Paul Feig To Direct ‘Detention’ For Blumhouse Atomic Monster And Platinum Dunes

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Director Paul Feig is set to helm Detention, a horror thriller produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Platinum Dunes. The move marks a further shift into darker material for Feig, who is best known for comedies but scored the biggest hit of his career with last Christmas's thriller The Housemaid. The project reflects the continued appetite among major genre producers for new horror packages.

The spec script was written by Daniel Gold, with producers including Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller, Feig and Laura Fischer. Its plot and logline are being kept secret. No studio is yet attached, though Universal is seen as the likely frontrunner given its ties to the producers. Cameron Fuller drove the package from the outset, finding the script and bringing it to Feig. Feig, whose films have grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide, is meanwhile in pre-production on The Housemaid's Secret, a sequel due for release on 17 December 2027.
