Paul McCartney Was Concerned Paul Mescal Is “Markedly Shorter” Than ‘The Beatles’ Co-Stars
Paul McCartney says he raised concerns with director Sam Mendes that actor Paul Mescal appears shorter than his fellow Beatles cast members in the forthcoming films. He recalled seeing a still of the actors crossing Abbey Road and thought Mescal looked “markedly smaller”, prompting him to text Mendes about it.
McCartney said Mendes replied that the difference was down to the actors’ strides and sent another image in which they appeared equal in height. Mendes is directing a four-film series that will tell the Beatles’ story from each member’s point of view. Mescal plays McCartney, Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon, Joseph Quinn plays George Harrison and Barry Keoghan plays Ringo Starr.
