Public television's PBS SoCal emerged as the leading winner at this year's Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, claiming eight awards across programming categories including live events, entertainment, and documentaries. Spanish-language broadcasters held strong finishes, with Univision's KMEX capturing seven awards and Telemundo's KVEA earning six, while ABC7 and NBC4 each secured four Emmy statuettes.
The awards ceremony, held at the Skirball Cultural Center, highlighted newscast excellence across the region, with KVEA retaining dominance in daytime and evening news broadcasts. ABC7 claimed this year's morning newscast honour, breaking KVEA's sweep from the previous year. The award categories predominantly recognised 2025 coverage, with many winning entries focusing on the region's devastating January wildfires, alongside recognition of achievements in health, culture, and human interest reporting.
