Pedro Pascal on Learning Cello for ‘Behemoth!,’ Why ‘You’ve Got to Eat S—’ to Make It in Hollywood and the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Line His Character Says
Pedro Pascal spent more than a year learning cello for Tony Gilroy’s film “Behemoth!”, beginning lessons before the project was approved. He describes performing the music as the hardest part he has tackled, but says the demanding shoot became his favourite filmmaking experience and that he misses his character, cellist Alex Serian.
The film follows Alex, who returns to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road; Pascal says the character expresses himself through music as much as words. The Searchlight Pictures film premiered at the New York Film Festival on 2 October and is due to open on 4 December. In the podcast interview, Pascal also discusses Gilroy’s work, previews a line from “Avengers: Doomsday” and talks about other upcoming projects.
