Peking Duk Welcomes Us to ‘Paradise’ With Long-Awaited First Album
Australian electronic duo Peking Duk have released Paradise, their long-awaited debut album, after more than a decade of successful singles. The 14-track record represents a creative reset for Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, who say working without the pressure of expectations made them feel like “kids again” and gave them greater freedom after leaving Sony Music.
Three years in the making, Paradise features guests including Killer Mike, Rico Nasty, Phantogram and Matt Corby, and opens with actor Jack Thompson’s voice alongside a Roland TB-303 synthesiser. The duo signed a partnership-style deal with Virgin Music that retains their creative control, while both members continued solo projects; they also cite their Canberra upbringing and a desire to celebrate every moment as central to the album’s spirit.
