TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins and Chimp Spanner's Paul Ortiz have released Prince Of Failure, a new collaborative project using music to confront anxiety, impostor syndrome and career upheaval. The album blends spacious, electronic-tinged arrangements with powerful guitar work and intimate vocals, and doubles as a personal reckoning for Tompkins following his recent ADHD and autistic-traits diagnosis.

Originally conceived as another Tompkins solo record with Ortiz producing, the project shifted direction after Tompkins's diagnosis, with Ortiz becoming a close confidant during the process. The pair have collaborated before, releasing a synthwave album as Zeta in 2019 and reworking Tompkins's solo record Castles into Ruins. Tompkins, 42, describes naming the project's struggles as an empowering way to separate himself from long-unexamined insecurities, while also touching on rejection sensitivity and the pressures of navigating the music industry with his condition.
