Perez Hilton’s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, has described finding him during a livestreamed self-harm incident at his Miami home on 4 August. She said she initially became concerned when his bedroom door was closed and he stopped responding from the bathroom, before finding him seriously injured; the account highlights the severity of the family’s crisis and the emergency response that followed.

Lavandeira said the livestream reportedly lasted around 30 minutes and included suicidal threats. She moved Hilton’s three children and her own daughter to safety before calling 911, then returned to help stem his bleeding until assistance arrived. As of Thursday, Hilton remained in hospital in Miami, while his mother began temporary custody proceedings for his children.
