Perplexity launches background AI agents for subscribers’ work tasks
Perplexity has launched “teammates”, personal AI agents designed to handle ongoing work with limited supervision. They operate within its cloud-based Perplexity Computer service, and can take on separate tasks at the same time, coordinate with one another and bring in additional agents as workloads grow.
The agents run in the background around the clock and alert users when decisions are needed. Users can track each agent’s activity and completed work in a sidebar, then assign more tasks, change priorities or request updates. Teammates are currently available on the web and iOS only to Perplexity Max subscribers, whose plan costs $200 a month or $2,000 a year.
In short
- Perplexity’s new AI agents can coordinate ongoing work.
- Teammates run in the background and flag decisions.
- Access is limited to Max subscribers, at $200 monthly.
