Apple executive Phil Schiller is stepping down as head of the App Store and Apple events, according to a Bloomberg report. The change comes just one day before hardware chief John Ternus takes over as Apple CEO from Tim Cook, who steps down on 1 September, marking a significant reshuffle among the company's most senior figures.

Schiller, who joined Apple in 1987 and led marketing from 1997 until 2020, helped launch the App Store with Steve Jobs in 2008 and was involved in developing the iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac. He will retain his Apple Fellow title and continue working on unspecified projects, while the App Store division moves under services chief Eddy Cue, with Carson Oliver remaining in charge of the store itself.
