Phill Jupitus has criticised David Byrne after a concert at Edinburgh Playhouse, arguing that allowing audience members to stand and dance effectively excluded disabled people and others unable to stand for long periods. He said the experience left him unable to see much of the show, raising wider concerns about accessibility at seated concerts.

Jupitus attended the final of Byrne’s three Edinburgh dates and said people in front stood by the third song, despite an announcement asking dancers to be respectful of those around them. He has a leg condition and said two tickets cost £270; while he praised the opening songs, he urged Byrne to use larger Glasgow venues in future. Byrne is due to headline Latitude 2026.
