Four adults have appeared in court accused of murdering a newborn girl, known as Baby S, after she was found dead at a property in Wincobank, Sheffield. The case is at an early stage and the allegations have not been proven; it has prompted a major police investigation into the child’s death.

The court heard that the baby had 33 injuries, including 15 stab wounds, and was found in an outbuilding on Holywell Heights on 30 August. The four defendants, aged 19, 20, 37 and 38, also face charges of causing or allowing a child’s death and perverting the course of justice; a 15-year-old girl is charged with perverting the course of justice. All were remanded in custody pending further court hearings.
