Explained simply

Pikmin is a Nintendo game series in which players lead small plant-like creatures called Pikmin to explore environments and solve tasks. Pikmin 4, released for the original Switch in 2023, combines exploration with challenges that involve directing Pikmin and working against time.

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is an updated version for Nintendo’s newer console. Dandori is the game’s term for organising Pikmin and tasks efficiently, while Oatchi is a dog-like companion players can direct; owners of the original game can buy an upgrade. The demo lets prospective players try the updated edition, and its progress carries over to the full game.
