Disney and Square Enix have unveiled a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer at this year's D23 expo, confirming that Sora will visit a world based on Pixar's Coco. The reveal gives long-waiting fans their first proper look at how a beloved Pixar film will be reimagined within the action RPG, alongside a first indication of when the game might actually arrive.
The trailer shows Sora exploring the Land of the Dead alongside Miguel and other Coco characters, mixing cutscenes with gameplay footage, and also features returning series regulars including Mickey, Donald and Goofy. Crucially, it closes with a release window of "Late 2027" for PlayStation 5, the clearest timing indication yet for the long-in-development sequel. A dedicated Kingdom Hearts panel at the expo is still to come, which fans hope will bring further details.

Kingdom Hearts is a long-running action role-playing game series made by Square Enix in partnership with Disney. Players control Sora, a young hero who travels between worlds based on Disney and Pixar films, fighting enemies with help from characters such as Donald Duck and Goofy.
Coco is Pixar’s 2017 animated film about Miguel, a boy who enters the Land of the Dead and learns about his family’s history. Its setting and characters give Kingdom Hearts another film-inspired world for Sora to explore.
The fourth main Kingdom Hearts game has been anticipated since it was announced in 2022, after the previous numbered game was released in 2019. The series is known for combining Disney stories with Square Enix’s original characters and a continuing plot about connected worlds.
