Pixies Unearth Four Archival Tracks, Including Steve Albini Version of “Dig for Fire”
Pixies have released four previously unheard archival tracks from the late 1980s and early 1990s on streaming services. The release makes material previously available on limited bonus 7-inch records more widely accessible, including an early Steve Albini recording of “Dig for Fire”.
The four songs are “Dig for Fire (Albini Version)”, “Go Man Go”, “Brackish Boy” and “Punk Loop”. Recorded in late 1987, the rougher “Dig for Fire” predates the version on 1990’s *Bossanova* by nearly three years; “Go Man Go” was recorded by both Pixies and The Breeders but initially left off their albums. “Brackish Boy” comes from the *Trompe le Monde* period, while “Punk Loop” was recorded during those 1991 sessions. The releases arrive ahead of Pixies’ 2027 South American dates and a US arena tour with Queens of the Stone Age.
