Play Jay Worthy’s 16-Bit Video Game ‘P of the Week’: ‘It Feels Like a Mix of My Two Favorite Games’
Rapper Jay Worthy has released a free 16-bit browser video game called "P of the Week" ahead of "Generation P", his forthcoming collaborative album with funk legend George Clinton, released under the LNDN DRGS duo with producer Sean House. The game, designed by Kyle Zimmer, lets fans play as Jay Worthy in a style the artist describes as a blend of "Super Mario" and "Streets of Rage", and forms part of a rollout that has already included the singles "Knee Deep", featuring Snoop Dogg, and "Atomic P".
Worthy, a self-described retro game collector, said he wanted the project to evoke the CRT-monitor feel of classic Nintendo and Sega titles, while Zimmer aimed to preserve that analogue look while ensuring smooth performance on modern mobile browsers. George Clinton's grandson and the album's A&R, Zavier Croft, framed the game as a tribute to physical media and vintage culture rather than a mere promotional tool. "Generation P" is due for release on 28 August and features a wide-ranging guest list including Snoop Dogg, Larry June, Ty Dolla $ign, Curren$y, Ab-Soul, YG and The Game.
