Marvel and Disney are releasing a new Poe Dameron Omnibus on 8 September, collecting the comics that chart the Resistance pilot's backstory before, during and after Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The 792-page volume gives fans a chance to revisit material from the sequel trilogy era that some feel was overlooked amid the franchise's broader criticism, fleshing out characters such as Poe, BB-8 and the Black Squadron who received limited development on screen.

The omnibus brings together three series: the 31-issue Poe Dameron (2016) run by Charles Soule with art by Phil Noto and Angel Unzueta, which ran from April 2016 to September 2018 and features cameos from Rey, Finn, Leia and Chewbacca; the two-issue Poe Dameron Annual by Robbie Thompson and Nicole Virella, published 2017-2018, in which Poe and BB-8 are stranded in First Order space after disobeying Leia's orders; and the mini-comic Poe Dameron 1: SaBBotage by Chris Eliopoulos and Jordie Bellaire. Together the stories explore Poe's childhood, his bond with BB-8 and fellow Black Squadron pilots such as Jessika Pava and Snap Wexley.
