Pokemon Bank shuts down next year, cutting off the only transfer path from older Pokemon games to the Switch generation

GamesRadar+ · 2 hours ago

Pokémon Bank, Nintendo’s cloud storage service for Nintendo 3DS Pokémon games, will close next year, ending the official route for moving Pokémon from older titles into Pokémon HOME and the Switch generation. The closure matters because players will no longer be able to preserve or continue using many Pokémon caught in games released before the Switch era.

The service is due to end on 25 February 2027 at 7pm PST, alongside Poké Transporter. Pokémon Bank has been free since the 3DS eShop closed in March 2023, but it and Poké Transporter could no longer be newly downloaded; players with compatible software and saved Pokémon must transfer them to Pokémon HOME before the deadline.

  • Pokémon Bank closes on 25 February 2027.
  • Transfers from older Pokémon games will end.
  • Players should move stored Pokémon to HOME beforehand.
