The Pokémon Company will close the Nintendo 3DS storage service Pokémon Bank on 25 February 2027, prompting concern among players with long-held collections. The closure matters because Bank has been a key way to preserve and transfer Pokémon between older games, and some fans may struggle to move creatures saved there before access ends.

Pokémon Bank launched in Japan in 2013 and internationally in 2014; it became free for existing users after the 3DS eShop closed in 2023. Players are being urged to transfer Pokémon to Pokémon Home, although transfers cannot be reversed and may require older hardware, games and apps; Home’s Premium Plan storage limit will rise to 9,000 Pokémon in an October update. Fans largely expected the shutdown but remain frustrated by the loss of another service used to preserve digital collections.
