Pokémon Officially Reveals a 6-Hour Shiny Hunting Event Starting This Saturday

Collider ·

Pokémon GO’s Sandile Hatch Day runs on Saturday, 17 October, from 11am to 5pm local time. Sandile will hatch more often from 2 km Eggs, with an increased chance of being Shiny, giving players a limited window to hunt for the variant.

Players can get 2 km Eggs more often from PokéStops, and the event includes half Egg Hatch Distance and double Candy from hatching. Free timed research awards an Incubator and XP, but tasks and rewards must be claimed by 5pm. An optional $1.99 ticket adds research and reduces hatch distance to a quarter; its bonuses do not stack with other distance bonuses.

Pokémon GO is a free-to-play mobile game in which players explore real-world places to find and catch Pokémon. Eggs are items collected at locations called PokéStops; walking the required distance hatches them and reveals a Pokémon. Sandile is one of the Pokémon that can hatch from Eggs.

A Shiny Pokémon is a rare version with a different colour scheme. Hatch Day is a limited-time event that focuses on one Pokémon, giving players more chances to encounter it through hatching. Players can take part for free, while some events also offer an optional paid ticket with extra rewards.
