Pokémon appears to be making its 30th Celebration Trading Card Game expansion more accessible by substantially increasing the odds of pulling sought-after cards. The change matters because it weakens the scarcity that allows scalpers to charge excessive prices, although it is unlikely to prevent them from buying up sealed products.

Early data from a 420-pack sample found Special Illustration Rares in about 5.24% of packs—roughly one in 20, compared with around one in 80 in recent sets—while Illustration Rares appeared in about one in five packs. Future Rare Mew and Mewtwo cards appeared at rates approaching 1%, and their resale prices fell from nearly $1,000 at launch to about $150 as supply increased. The figures remain provisional, but suggest the set is considerably more generous than recent expansions.
