Disney has secured rights to a new Pokémon stop-motion series and the franchise’s original animated show for Disney+ and Disney XD. The agreement expands Disney’s Pokémon offering and pairs one of the world’s best-known children’s brands with Aardman’s distinctive stop-motion production style.

Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu is due to premiere in 2027 and will follow the two Pokémon as they help protect creatures across the Galar region. Aardman, known for Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, is producing the series; meanwhile, Pokémon the Series: The Beginning, featuring Ash and Pikachu, is already available on Disney+ and began airing on Disney XD in August.
