Pokémon TCG Gets Special Mewtwo 30th Anniversary Card With Limited Release

Polygon · 1 day ago

Pokémon is releasing a special Mewtwo promo card as part of the second wave of its Pokémon Trading Card Game 30th anniversary celebrations, giving collectors an extra item to chase beyond the standard sets. The card, illustrated by artist Nagisimo, will not appear in any regular 30th anniversary product and is instead being offered as a free bonus at participating US retailers, adding to an already hectic release schedule that has fans planning around pre-orders, queues and scalpers.

To claim the card, shoppers will need to spend at least $15 at participating stores from 2 October 2026, the same day the second batch of anniversary products launches, including Day and Night themed mini tins and six-pack Booster Bundles. Demand is expected to be high, as a similar promo during the 2026 World Championships saw stores sell out quickly, with retailers such as GameStop and Best Buy likely to see the strongest competition. The main anniversary set also contains a separate, hard-to-pull Mewtwo card, making the Nagisimo promo an alternative for fans keen to secure one. The first wave of anniversary products goes on sale on 16 September.
