The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Pokémon Unite will no longer feature in the Pokémon World Championships from 2027 onwards, ending the MOBA title's presence at the flagship event. In its place, the company will launch a standalone competition, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo, marking a significant shift in how the game's competitive scene is organised.

The new tournament will begin with online regional qualifiers worldwide from around November 2026, using unified rules across all regions and offering prize money at that stage too. Up to 32 qualifying teams will then be invited to an offline final in Tokyo in late March 2027, with travel awards provided and a further prize pool on offer. This means Unite's last appearance at the Pokémon World Championships proper will be in San Francisco this August, closing out five years of the free-to-play title's involvement in the flagship event since its 2021 launch.
