Pokémon UNITE, the MOBA you forgot, will be shutting down in a few months

Pokémon UNITE will end service on 23 March 2027, bringing its five-year run as Pokémon’s team-based battle game to a close. The closure matters to players who have followed the game since its 2021 launch, though the announcement gives no reason for the shutdown.

Players can continue until the final day, and a special event is planned before service ends. The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will take place two days beforehand, with the winner receiving a physical crown and title. The article notes past criticism of the game’s paid advantages and ranked matchmaking, while its announcement drew more than 58,000 reposts on X.
