The M1 was closed in both directions near Watford after a man’s body was found in undergrowth beside the motorway. Police are investigating the unexplained death, while the closure caused significant disruption on a busy route.
The motorway was shut at about 3pm on Monday between junctions 5 and 6. The southbound carriageway reopened that evening, while two northbound lanes reopened later; by Tuesday morning, one of the three northbound lanes remained closed as officers continued their enquiries.
