Colin Sutton, the Reform UK Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk, has been criticised by political opponents after announcing a 127-date nationwide theatre tour about his former career as a Metropolitan Police detective, running throughout 2027 alongside his £79,000-a-year role. Critics, including Conservative and Liberal Democrat politicians, say the tour will prevent him from properly overseeing Norfolk Constabulary and question whether he can fulfil his duties, which include holding the chief constable to account and setting the force's budget, while touring extensively.

Sutton, who won the post for Reform UK in a July by-election after Labour's Sarah Taylor stepped down, previously led over 30 major investigations, including the cases against serial killer Levi Bellfield and "Nightstalker" rapist Delroy Grant. His tour, titled "The Makings of a Murderer – Double Jeopardy", spans venues across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, with dates falling on weekdays and weekends alike. Shadow policing minister Matt Vickers and Lib Dem MP Steff Aquarone were among those accusing him of neglecting his elected duties, with Aquarone calling for Sutton to forgo his salary while touring.
