Police seek woman after attempt to take girl’s hand at West Ham station
Police are seeking a woman after an incident at West Ham Underground station in which she tried to take hold of a seven-year-old girl who was with her father. The case matters because officers are asking the public to help identify the woman and assist their investigation.
The incident happened at about 8.30pm on Thursday. Police say the woman spoke to the child, said she wanted to “grab” her and tried to hold her hand; when the father and daughter moved away, she told bystanders the father was kidnapping the girl, then left. British Transport Police have released images showing a woman in dark clothing, a white collar and blonde hair, and ask anyone who recognises her to text 61016, quoting reference 108 of 16 October, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
