Police probe continues into Ann Widdecombe murder after police make arrest in South Yorkshire
Ann Widdecombe, the 78-year-old former Conservative MP and Reform UK spokesperson, was discovered deceased at her Dartmoor residence on Thursday morning following emergency services response. She had sustained serious injuries, with police determining the fatal assault likely occurred the previous day around midday.
Police arrested a 28-year-old South Yorkshire resident on Saturday evening in connection with the death. A different suspect apprehended on Friday was subsequently released, no longer considered part of the investigation. Whilst Counter Terrorism Policing supported the arrest operation, authorities have stated there is currently no evidence suggesting a terrorism connection, with detectives continuing forensic analysis and witness enquiries.
