Merseyside Police are still trying to identify a woman, believed to be around 70, whose body was found dumped in a bin bag in Stanley Park, Anfield, on 28 August. Despite an extensive door-to-door and CCTV operation, detectives have made no headway in establishing who she is, and the case has unsettled local residents who fear the victim went unnoticed by anyone who knew her.

Officers have knocked on 625 doors and reviewed footage from 30 cameras, receiving 160 reports from the public and ruling out 73 people, but her DNA does not match any national database and dental records have not helped. She is described as white, around 5ft 2in, of slight build with strawberry blonde hair, and was wearing a pink Nike T-shirt; she is thought to have lain in the park's walled garden for several weeks before being found. Police have not disclosed her cause of death and are appealing for anyone missing contact with someone matching her description, or with relevant drone footage, to come forward.
