Northampton Saints wonderkid Henry Pollock is set to seek a significant pay rise to remain at the club, with his agent Eddie Hearn suggesting the 21-year-old's earnings should reach £1m a year. The claim highlights the growing commercial pull of rugby's breakout star, whose confrontational playing style and celebratory antics have won him a large following, but it also raises questions about whether Northampton can afford him under Premiership salary rules.

Pollock's current contract, signed in December 2024 and running until 2027, is reportedly worth £150,000 a year, well below the £1m figure Hearn now says he commands. Since then he has won an England cap, toured with the British and Irish Lions, and helped Saints reach the Champions Cup final and win the Premiership title. Northampton's wage bill is constrained by a £6.4m salary cap, with only one marquee player exempt, a slot reportedly already claimed by fly-half Fin Smith, while stars such as Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell could also stake a claim. Hearn added that Pollock would not move abroad, as this would jeopardise his England prospects under the governing body's home-based selection policy.
