Poop in the Pit Brings Metal Show to Pungent Pause

Consequence · 2 hours ago

A concert by New Zealand rock band Devilskin was briefly halted at the weekend after a fan defecated in the middle of the crowd, forcing security to intervene. The incident is the latest in a string of similar occurrences at gigs this year, including shows by Noah Kahan and 5 Seconds of Summer, prompting renewed jokes about a strange trend of concertgoers losing bowel control mid-performance.

Fans formed a circle around the mess and alerted security, leading singer Jennie Skulander to stop the show to ask if someone was unwell. The smell reportedly caused several other attendees to vomit. Venue operator Otago University Students' Association said the person had suffered a medical incident, remained fully clothed throughout, and was escorted out without arrest. Devilskin have since leaned into the incident, releasing a novelty "Diaper of Doom" product for fans attending their ongoing anniversary tour.
