A large review found that eating more whole grains may improve several heart-health markers, including weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. The greatest benefits appeared among people consuming roughly four to six servings daily, although the findings suggest several modest improvements working together rather than one dramatic effect.

The meta-analysis examined 87 randomised trials involving more than 6,500 people across multiple countries, with benefits generally seen at 60–100 grams of whole grains per day. Researchers cautioned that most studies were short and did not directly measure heart attacks or strokes; experts advised increasing intake gradually and checking labels to ensure products genuinely contain whole grains.
