The Sword Dancer pub in Handsworth, Sheffield, has closed temporarily for a six-figure refurbishment and rebrand ahead of its reopening next month. The pub, part of the Greene King group, is joining the Flaming Grill portfolio, with the operator promising it will remain a "much-loved community pub" while introducing new sports and entertainment offerings for local residents.

The revamp includes modern decor, lighting and furniture, alongside fresh signage and new planters and garden furniture outside. Sports fans can expect a state-of-the-art media wall, upgraded screens and sound systems showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports fixtures, plus two interactive dartboards and an upgraded pool table. The menu will also be refreshed with skillets, burgers, sharing platters and desserts, bookable via the Greene King app, and the pub is currently recruiting staff ahead of reopening.
