Minneapolis rock band Porch Light have released a new single, “Under”, described as a forceful hard-rock track that balances feedback, screams and Southern-rock swagger with more melodic vocals from singer Jackie Uhas. The release reinforces the young band’s commercial potential while highlighting its heavier, more aggressive sound.

Uhas said the song originated during a jam session at her parents’ house, with its chorus and bridge taking shape later. She deliberately recorded the vocals last during a 10-day album session so she could scream without restraint; the bridge was reportedly written in a bathroom after drinks on the final night. “Under” and the earlier, Paramore-influenced single “Arctic” are out now via Mom+Pop.
