In the penultimate episode of *Power Book III: Raising Kanan*’s fifth and final season, Kanan kills his uncle Marvin after blaming him for the death of his other uncle, Lou. The death removes another central character as the prequel approaches its conclusion, underlining the series’ focus on betrayal, revenge and the consequences of family conflict.

Marvin had been preparing for the possibility of his death, leaving money with a preacher for his daughter Jukebox before Kanan confronted him with a gun. Actor London Brown said he wished Marvin had received another season, but described the role as rewarding; Marvin’s story had included both harmful behaviour towards Jukebox and moments of loyalty towards his family. The episode also reinforces the franchise’s established future: Kanan is ultimately killed in season five of the original *Power*.
