Capcom's latest financial report for the first quarter of FY2026 shows the Resident Evil series has become the best-selling Japanese third-party game series of all time, overtaking Final Fantasy. The milestone comes as the company also reported strong overall growth, driven largely by robust game sales across its portfolio, including a solid debut for new IP Pragmata.

Resident Evil's total sales have now passed 213 million units, helped by Requiem's strong launch of eight million copies, edging past Square Enix's Final Fantasy series, which stood at over 212 million as of June 2026. Only Nintendo's Mario and Pokémon franchises now outsell Resident Evil among Japanese series. Meanwhile, Pragmata was Capcom's top seller for the quarter with 2.51 million units, narrowly ahead of Resident Evil 4's 2.43 million, while net sales rose 55% and operating profit climbed 67% year-on-year.
