Preorders for Xbox’s anniversary collection are open (for some) and the bundle costs $900

Engadget · 3 hours ago

Xbox has opened preorders for a $900 bundle marking the console's 25th anniversary, though access is currently limited to select "most dedicated fans" who have been contacted by email. The package appeals to Halo and Xbox enthusiasts by combining a striking limited-edition look with a digital copy of an upcoming flagship game, though the premium price over a standard console has drawn some scrutiny given ongoing hardware cost pressures.

The bundle includes a translucent green Xbox Series X console, a matching wireless controller, and a digital download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Each console is individually numbered and, along with the controller, bears a special Xbox 25 logo; a standard Series X in the same configuration normally costs $800 without the game or colourway. General preorders open to everyone on 27 August at 10am ET, with consoles shipping on 15 November, close to the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox's launch. Those unwilling to pay $900 can buy the anniversary controller alone for $80, and several accessory makers have announced their own tie-in products for the anniversary.
