Rocky Flintoff has strengthened his case for a bigger role with Lancashire after an impressive One-Day Cup, including his first senior century, but expectations are rising because of his father Andrew Flintoff’s England legacy. Lancashire coach Steven Croft praised the 18-year-old’s composure and ability, while stressing that his next challenge is to prove himself consistently in first-class cricket against stronger bowling attacks.

Flintoff finished the competition with 315 runs from eight matches at an average of 63, highlighted by 123 against Somerset and an unbeaten 61 against Warwickshire. He had missed Lancashire’s first team in 2025 because of injuries and England Under-19 commitments, and has not yet played in the T20 Blast or The Hundred; possible County Championship selection and five England youth internationals against Pakistan in September now present further choices.
