Prime Video has struck a deal with the National Hockey League to become the exclusive local streaming platform for six teams, marking Amazon's expansion into regional sports broadcasting. The agreement covers Stanley Cup champions the Carolina Hurricanes, along with the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St Louis Blues, whose games will stream on Prime within each club's regional territory from the start of the 2026-27 season. The move reflects the wider collapse of the traditional regional sports network model, with leagues increasingly turning to streaming platforms to reach local fans.

The deal begins on 29 September, when the new season starts. The Ducks and Stars are switching from Victory+, a streamer that has experienced significant financial troubles over the past year, while the other four teams had already been lined up for a centralised NHL production arrangement for their local broadcasts. Each club will independently set subscription prices and release further package details closer to the season. Prime Video already streams games for the Seattle Kraken under a similar arrangement, and separately offers various regional sports networks to Amazon account holders as add-on subscriptions.
