Prime Video’s strong streaming performance for 2026’s Masters of the Universe is reviving interest in the film after it was judged a major theatrical disappointment. The apparent comeback could improve the chances of Amazon approving a sequel, although no continuation has been officially announced.

The film reportedly cost $170 million to make but earned only about $120 million worldwide, including roughly $65 million domestically. Directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine, Alison Brie, Idris Elba and Camila Mendes, it has a 68% critics’ score and an 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. FlixPatrol reports that it has spent more than 60 days on Prime Video’s domestic leaderboard.
