Prime Video’s upcoming eight-part adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie is receiving encouraging early reviews ahead of its 7 October 2026 premiere. Created by Mike Flanagan, the series is the first television version of the novel and reimagines its story of an isolated, telekinetic teenager seeking revenge after a cruel prom-night prank.

The series currently holds an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score from five reviews. Critics have praised Summer H. Howell’s performance as Carrie, Samantha Sloyan’s portrayal of her mother Margaret, and Flanagan’s modernisation of the material, while one review noted that Margaret appears softer than in previous adaptations. King has also called the series “brilliant”, particularly highlighting its commentary on social media.
