Prime Video is releasing a new heist thriller called Masterplan on 16 October, which the streamer has positioned as one of its most anticipated upcoming releases. The film follows a seasoned thief who plans to steal the Mona Lisa and recruits two young specialists—an Italian cybercrime expert named Chiara and a French explosives expert named Jay—to help execute the job. The heist becomes complicated when it is revealed that the thief is actually the two young people's father, transforming the story into an unexpected family reunion that forces the trio to navigate personal relationships whilst attempting one of history's most ambitious thefts.

The film is directed by Thomas Vincent, an action director known for his work on Prime Video's thriller Reacher and Netflix's Bodyguard, with a script co-written by David Wolstencroft, the creator of Versailles. The cast is led by Stanley Tucci as the master thief, alongside The White Lotus Season 2 breakout star Simona Tabasco as Chiara and Victor Belmondo as Jay. The thriller has been billed as a blend of the heist style of Berlin and Ocean's Eleven, suggesting it combines intricate plotting with character-driven drama.
