Princess Diana’s South Africa holiday home where she met Nelson Mandela goes up for sale for £6.75m
A South African estate that belonged to Earl Spencer, where Princess Diana often stayed and met Nelson Mandela in 1997, is on the market for £6.75 million. The sale draws attention to the cottage Diana used as a private retreat and to the estate’s place in her family’s history.
The Tarrystone Estate in Upper Constantia has an asking price of R150 million and includes a four-bedroom mansion, five guest cottages and two staff cottages. The estate has ten bedrooms in total, vineyards producing about 300 bottles of wine a year, a private cinema, swimming pool and tennis court. Diana’s thatched one-bedroom cottage has been renovated, but her bedroom is said to have been preserved as it was when she last stayed there.
