Pro wrestler Vinny Pacifico cast in ‘I Dream of Pizza,’ adding to résumé: ‘Who would say no to this?’
Independent wrestler and actor Vinny Pacifico has been cast in the film “I Dream of Pizza”, adding another screen role to his career. The project gives him a chance to combine his Italian background and acting work with his ongoing wrestling career, which he says he hopes to continue for as long as his health allows.
Directed by Matt Provenzano, the film follows a pizza-making prodigy who leaves Italy for New York to open a shop, only for it to be taken over by an Italian crime family. Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Michael Leavy, Giorgio Cantarini and Vic Dibitetto are also named in the cast; filming is planned in New York and, Pacifico believes, partly in Italy. He said he accepted the role after hearing the story compared with “Goodfellas” and “Ratatouille”, and plans to prioritise physical therapy and staying fit so he can keep wrestling.

The film brings together themes of Italian food, family and crime, while adding a screen role to Pacifico’s career. He has said he hopes to continue wrestling as long as his health allows, so maintaining his fitness and recovering from physical demands are part of balancing that work with acting.
