“Professional lurker” Todd Howard reappears on internet forums following Bethesda’s Fallout and Elder Scrolls announcements to thank fans for their support

Eurogamer · 21 hours ago

Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard has returned to Reddit after a six-month absence to thank fans, following Bethesda's unusually candid roadmap update on upcoming Fallout and The Elder Scrolls projects. The announcement came shortly after sweeping layoffs across the wider Xbox division, and confirmed that Bethesda Game Studios will collaborate more closely with other studios, including Obsidian Entertainment on a future Fallout title and ZeniMax Online on The Elder Scrolls' continued development.

Describing himself as a "professional lurker" on Reddit, Howard said the studio is "constantly listening" to fan feedback and credited the platform with inspiring "great ideas". His last post before this had been a light-hearted remark six months ago about a Fallout 4 mod. The broader update confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6 is in full production and reportedly playable, while Fallout 76 is set for another large expansion alongside current-generation updates; however, enthusiasm has been tempered by concerns over whether a reduced Xbox workforce can deliver on these ambitions.
