Rideshare, an upcoming PS5 driving simulator, has faced a public backlash after former lead writer Stella Sacco alleged that her writing role was replaced by ChatGPT and that the game uses AI-generated voice acting. The dispute matters because it has intensified concerns over undisclosed generative AI use in games and has damaged the title’s public reception before release.

Sacco said Saber Interactive had not disclosed the AI use on Rideshare’s Steam page, while her former boss at developer Unigine had supported her work. Saber CEO Matthew Karch said AI would be used for certain elements of the lower-priced game and that the Steam page would be updated, but his dismissive remarks about Sacco prompted further criticism; she described his response as “remarkably pathetic”.
