A pub in Norwich has agreed to restrict the hours of its outdoor launderette after neighbours complained about noise, bright lights and parking problems. The Woodman's owners installed the 24-hour facility to boost income amid rising costs from increases to National Insurance and the minimum wage, but nearby residents said the machines and their lighting were intrusive and out of keeping with the area, prompting a backlash and a parish meeting to address the concerns.

The launderette, comprising two industrial washing machines and a 20kg dryer, had reportedly caused parking chaos, with customers leaving cars on pavements and forcing pedestrians into the road. Following the complaints, the pub has agreed to limit operating hours to 7am–11pm, put the lights on a timer so they are not left on overnight, and offer customers free use of the pub car park for up to an hour. A local councillor welcomed the compromise but noted concerns remain about the installation not requiring planning permission or neighbour consultation.
