Pupil, 16, ‘who had sex with female PE teacher, 30,’ tells court he lied to school and child protection services to ‘keep her sweet’

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

A 16-year-old boy who says he was groomed by his female PE teacher told Winchester Crown Court that he lied to his school and Child Protection Services about their relationship in order to "keep her sweet." Bronwen James, 30, denies four counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust, and claims the allegations were fabricated after the boy was "put up" to it by another pupil. The case centres on claims that James, who taught at Bitterne Park School in Southampton, exploited her position of trust over a student.

The boy told jurors he initially felt he was living "a teenage boy's dream" but now recognises he was groomed, describing how James allegedly flirted with him in lessons, arranged meetings via Snapchat, kissed him in her car and had sex with him at her home up to four times, including once while watching Wimbledon. He said she asked him to call her "miss" in private, told him she loved him and wanted to move away with him, and gave him vapes hidden in his coursework. He said he twice denied the relationship to the head teacher and child protection officials while it was ongoing, only to "keep her sweet." The trial continues.
