Qobuz rolls out real-time synced lyrics to all subscribers

Music Business Worldwide · 3 hours ago

Qobuz has introduced real-time synchronised lyrics and a redesigned player interface across its iOS and Android apps, making the feature available to all subscribers. The high-fidelity streaming service announced the update on Thursday 23 July, bringing it into line with Spotify and Apple Music, which have offered synced lyrics since 2021 and 2019 respectively. Because Qobuz operates a paid-only model with no free, ad-supported tier, the feature is accessible to its entire subscriber base rather than being restricted, as has sometimes happened with lyrics access on competitors' free tiers.

The lyrics scroll line-by-line in time with the music and include translations, while the revamped player features artwork-driven visuals, a persistent mini-player, and a tablet split-screen mode. New additions include an Explore section with contextual recommendations, an enhanced credits layout with reviews and biographies, and a queue that shows the next three tracks. The rollout comes as Qobuz reported strong 2025 results, with revenue growth of 45.7% against an 8.8% market average, 1.2 million monthly active users, and average revenue per user of $135.90, well above the industry average of $20.74; the features are live on mobile and tablet, with other platforms to follow.
