Qualcomm has told customers it plans to raise prices by a double-digit percentage for products shipped after 1 September, citing higher supplier costs caused by continuing component shortages. The move matters because Qualcomm chips are widely used in smartphones, PCs and other consumer devices, so manufacturers may pass the increase on to buyers.

The reported rises could affect products ranging from Samsung foldable phones and smartglasses to lower-cost Windows PCs using Qualcomm platforms. Qualcomm says it has exhausted its ability to absorb supplier cost increases and tried alternative sources, while similar shortages have already contributed to higher prices, reduced specifications, cancellations and delays across the technology sector.
